Love Yuanlin Railway        Text/Hsin-yu Kuo

      The Jingsiou Vanguard Team spent half a year in studying Yuanlin’s railways and environment. During the process, we have encountered many touching, sad, helpless, or respectable people or things so our heart for arousing people’s love to hometown is getting stronger. The Jingsiou Vanguard Team also held campus seminars to share our thoughts and memos about Yuanlin Station.


      On Thursday Morning, we went to the multipurpose room at the second floor to set up computers, single guns, and stereo first. About one hundred students from classes 601, 602, and 603 were seated. In their expectant eyes, we started to give speeches. We were divided into groups of four. At first, Yi-ru used five Taiwanese poems created by Teacher Mei-du to introduce the history of Yuanlin’s development. Ruo-ci explained the status of the Yuanlin Railway, Sugar Railway, and light railways. Yu-jie and I reported the Jingsiou Vanguard Team’s interviews, site visits, and research records.

 

Ah! It is right that one minute of performance on the stage requires ten years of practice. We had practiced for several days, but our introduction could be better. Luckily Teacher Hsiang-ting gave us some suggestions in the discussion, so we got better and better in the next three seminars. I am very happy that the Jingsiou Vanguard Team could, through the microphone, speak for Yuanlin’s railway culture as railway experts. I believe we will get much better as long as we continue to work hard.

Willing to be a presenter of Yuanlin Railway

      We spent the noon break time to search data in the computer room and make them into computer brief, we acted as the presenter Yuanlin Railway in groups. Hsin-yu, Ruo-ci, Yu-jie and I were in the same group, upon the practical simulation and exercise of the teachers, we carried out the trial explanation in class on the next afternoon. In the morning self-study on Thursday, we made a lecture to nearly 100 students in Classes 1, 2 and 3 of Grade 6. Thanks to our full preparation, we completed the lecture successfully. After review, we made a lecture in Classes 2 and 4 of Grade 4 and completed the task without being nervous. Thank Teacher Lin for his guidance, I had the opportunity to become the spokesman of Yuanlin Railway to advocate the story of railway to the classmates successfully. We really learnt a lot, and I was willing to be the presenter of Yuanlin Railway.
