Rail Memory of Yi-ling Lin

      Yi-ling Lin is the volunteer of Jingsiou Elementary School, who is 50 years old. In the past, he went to Jingsiou Elementary School on foot, and the settlement was a green village scenery.

Yuanlin Railway Memory of Ms. Lin
      In 1968, Ms. Lin’s father moved to the south adjacent to the Taiwan Sugar Yuanlin Station, the government encouraged to “take family as the factory”. Her father often dried rush in Sugar Railway, and calculated the arrival time of the small train before receiving it.
        

 Reflection

      The dried rush was made into rope and transported to the port through railway. In 1970, the small train full of sugarcane was parked in Yuanlin Station, the peers dated to do hide-and-seek in the small train, and sometimes then took the sugarcane secretly as the snacks! The place near Taiwan SugarSouth Yuanlin Station was called vehicle crossing, and it was quite lively in the early period, renowned as “the west door of Yuanlin”, and there was international theatre, fresh theatre, song and dance troupe, and it was prosperous temporarily.

A happy lane

      In 1998, Ms. Lin’s mother presented “the living house” to Ms. Lin, the neighbors had lived there for decades, and Ms. Lin called “a happy lane”, and the old house was full of the memory of the Lin Family! The rear door was the rusty railway enclosure, which prevented the invasion of gangsters effectively, but isolated people’s heart from the railway, and from then on, it was difficult to step into the rail area.

      After Yuanlin Elevated Station was put into operation, the government planned to open Minzu St.-elevated bridge-Nanhe St. Ms. Lin expressed that there were 5 staffs surveying the land, measuring and expropriating only at one time. The residents think there have been many west-east channels under the elevated bridge, and it is unnecessary to demolish their houses. Mrs. Lin thinks that the rail of Sugar Railways should be maintained, so that the people can understand the culture of Yuanlin Railway. The railway can be used for sightseeing from South Yuanlin Station along Xinsheng Rd. to the silo via the footpath in the north.
