Jingsiou Vanguard Team came to the home of Mr. Yang’s grandfather near Taiwan Sugar Yuanlin Station. He was my granduncle, everyone asked him what was the deepest life memory, he answered “small train”, and it was the old memory 60 years ago. When very young, my granduncle loved the small train of Sugar Railway passing through his home, the train whistle called the children of neighbors, he and the neighbor children would steal the sugarcane on the train as snacks at the tail of the train unconsciously when the train was parked in South Yuanlin Station, really a happy childhood period!
My granduncle has lived beside the railway in his whole life, and he never feels it is noisy and has been used to the days of train for a long time. In recent years, some people have cemented the obsolete old rail in the sugar refinery, he thinks this is feasible and safe. After construction of the elevated railway, his house will be expropriated by the government as the road. He has lived here for more than 50 years, he would not be accustomed even if living in the luxurious house, and he feel he has feelings to the old house.
