Initial experience of Yuanlin Railway

     Teacher Hsiang-ting who was newly transferred to the school, upon knowing Taiwan Sugar South Yuanlin Station, immediately planned the survey course. In the spring of 2014, the 12 poets in South Fujian dialects about village Crossing Nanping Village recited by Teacher Mei-tu were recorded into mp3, and were played in the class and lunch time for education. With the old photos of Yuanlin Railway, Teacher Mei-tu told the story about 100 years’ development, making the students understand the history of their hometown.

 Reflection

        

      On the afternoon of Tuesday, the teacher and students went to Railway Silo to experience the train passing through the level crossing in a near distance. When going to Xinsheng Road, we saw the elevated project under construction, and also went to Taiwan Sugar South Yuanlin Station to imagine the prosperity of three-railway joint construction in the early days, but we saw a lot of weeds, garbage and mosquitoes and discussed who should maintain the community environment.

 

        
      After the survey, the teacher taught us to know about the environment of our hometown with Google map, each group discussed and cooperated to draw the map of Zhizai Road in Yuanlin Railway, and it took us one week to complete the drawing and we won the special extra excellence award for webpage competition of mapping of Changhua County community in the whole county. Teacher Mei-tu and Teacher Hsiang-ting attended the award presentation ceremony and shared and radiated the beauty of Yuanlin Railway and promoted the environmental education. We experienced a lot in Yuanlin Railway, and also requested the teachers to further research it.
