The Reflection Of Fund-Raising in Yuanlin Train Station

By Huang Zhen-wei
We hold the last fund-raising for a series of Cyberfair activity on the first Saturday in winter vacation. I was responsible for selling post cards and explaining our theme for this activity. However, we met some difficulties; for example, the police asked us not to sell products in front of station so we moved to other places to sell post cards for charity.
Finally, we reached our goals with patience since we were sometimes rejected by some passengers. I learned how to communicate to strangers with well-mannered attitude and know how to persuade people to donate money for charity. To sum up, it’s a special experience for me to participate this fund-raising activity.

The train station was crowded with passengers so Mrs. Lin reminded us to be polite and patient. In order to persuade people to donate money, we gave a set of postcards to those who donated one hundred dollars to the charity. Later, we tried to go to other locations like bookstores, McDonald, and markets to sell the postcards. Most people would donate some money to support us, which make me feel a sense of achievement. Finally, we got five thousand dollars in total. I hope we can help African children who need to the helps.
