Sino - Japanese Art Exchange Exhibition

1. Activity background:
The “Intimate Brothers even at a Thousand Miles Away” Sino-Japan Art Exchange Exhibition was planned and organized by Taiwan Peace Calligraphy Association Chairperson Hsu Chin-fa.

Venue: Yuanlin Performance Hall.

3. Activity content:
       The exhibition area was divided approximately into three sections: the section on the left, the section on the right, and the section on the second floor. The section on the right exhibited calligraphy works from Japan across the sea. These works featured calligraphic characters in larger sizes, neat writing, forceful and vigorous brush strokes, and an extensive use of the “dry brush” technique, which conveyed a fearless spirit. On the other hand, calligraphic works displayed at the section on the left were characterized by more versatile representations and made by local Taiwanese calligraphers.

4. Afterthoughts:
       After several exhibition tours, we have learned to appreciate calligraphy in different scripts, to imagine the scenarios when the calligraphy works were produced, the mental state of those artists, and to appreciate the artistic seals of these artists. With unique patterns and idiosyncratic words, these seals let on the mental state of those artists at the time their artworks were conceived. The art of calligraphy is such a profound sphere of knowledge!
