12 o’clock at noon, the teacher assembled us, and this was going to be our first time to conduct an interview so I was very nervous but excited at the same time. We were so looking forward to it.
When we arrived at Ben Feng Farm, because of some matters, Mr. Zhang, Jian Feng did not show up until later, and thus, manager’s wife came to do the introduction on behalf of the manager. She informed us that the proper temperature for spawn running is between 22 to 24 Celsius and it takes around 14 days for the process to finish. Afterwards, mushrooms start to grow, and the proper temperature for the duration is about 22 to 25 Celsius and it takes 14 to 15 days. Mr. Zhang, Jian Feng showed up after her introduction, and we interviewed him. We bombarded him with many questions, some of which revolve around Ben Feng Farm’s sales channels and the need of watering during spawn running. When we finished the interview and were ready to return, Mr. Zhang, Jian Feng gave us king oyster mushrooms as a gift. We are very thankful.

Hong Yi

When we arrived Ben Feng Farm, the president (Taiwan Junior Chamber’s president in 2020) had been procrastinated by some matters, so his wife (Shetou Township Councilwoman) came on behalf of him. She told us that the proper temperature for king oyster mushroom’s spawn running is around 23 to 28 Celsius. During spawn running, there is no need to water and it takes around 30 to 40 days. We were also informed that mushrooms of different kinds cannot be cultivated together because of mutual exclusion which can lead to mushroom’s death. There are section A, B, C, and D on Ben Feng Farm, she said. Although there is no distinct difference between them, the variance in mushroom prices reach around 10 NT dollars.
After the tour, we saw an unloading truck. It was a nice chance to see how trucks unload, the wife of the president said. My impression is that the truck’s tailgate is amazing because it is able to lift heavy mushrooms.
At last, we took a group photo together. Through this experience, I learnt lots about king oyster mushrooms and I hope I have another chance to come again.


Bo Yu

When we reached and entered Ben Feng Farm, I smelt a special odor. Them, a lady came out and introduced herself. She is the wife of Taiwan Junior Chamber’s president; also identified as the owner’s wife of Ben Feng Farm – Ms. Zhuang, Yong Qing.
Next, she introduced the king oyster mushrooms the farm cultivated. We were all ears and learnt the growing process of king oyster mushrooms. Suddenly, a truck drove in to pick up mushrooms. We videotaped the procedure and paid attention during the visit.
When the field trip came to an end, we took photos with the presidents of Taiwan Junior Chamber and his wife. The president gave every one a pack of mushroom as a gift. I hope I can go there again.


Pei Ni

The teacher took us to visit king oyster farm (Ben Feng Farm). Mr. Zhang, Jian Feng and Ms. Zhuang, Yong Qing made an introduction of the farm’s origin, characteristics and sales channels. After the introduction, we saw a truck came to pick up mushrooms. We watched as we took notes.
Today’s visit was very interesting and we obtained much knowledge. I hope I can visit again.


Chen Jia

We went to visit Ben Feng Farm and the owner showed us king oyster mushrooms’ growing procedure. We were also granted the knowledge of king oyster mushrooms, for example, the function of culture room is to accelerate circulating rate, a farm can only cultivate 1 to 2 kinds of mushrooms because different kinds interfere, and the spawn in FIBC bags are viable. Also, we were taken aback at the sight of king oyster mushrooms because they are bigger than my fist. I learnt a lot and I hope I can visit again!
