The construction majorly revolves around train shunting turntable, fanning out into twelve tracks, forming a semi-circle arc shape. Besides Changhua, the roundhouses could also be found in Taipei, Hsinchu, Chiayi, Kaohsiung and Kaohsiung Harbor, and yet, due to railway electrification, modernization and so on, they did not escape the fate of being dismantled. Such fate also almost befell on Changhua Roundhouse for the plan to build a train maintenance base in middle Taiwan, and yet, because of the zealous efforts made by the locals and some rail fans, Changhua Roundhouse survived unscathed; the planned location of the train maintenance base also moved south.
